Nebraska Communication Professionals Develop Campaigns to Heighten Awareness of COVID-19 Safety and Health Measures

PRSA Nebraska would like to spotlight the outstanding work of some of our members behind two new campaigns designed to communicate accurate information, raise awareness and provide communication tools to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Nebraska.

    Do Right, Right Now

The creative communication professionals at Vic Gutman & Associates (VGA), including PRSA member Lisa Winton who serves as VGA Vice President and Senior Project Leader, were the driving force behind the creation of the Do Right, Right Now campaign. The brightly colored, bilingual campaign messaging is featured in TV and radio spots as well as print, digital, and billboard media. There also is a website in place,, that contains state resources, resources by county and more information about how to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Laura Paulsen, VGA’s grant writer and development specialist, is a leader on the team that organized and implemented the campaign. “There has never been, and likely never will be, another event in our lifetime with such an enormous impact on every single member of the community,” Paulsen said.

“As the pandemic persisted, we began to see a lot of messaging coming from different organizations and media outlets, but we saw a need for a unified message and voice to really affect change. The most remarkable thing about working on this campaign was seeing more than 20 local media outlets commit on the spot to donating ad space and resources in support of the campaign,” Paulsen said.

“When the campaign expanded, media and partner organizations from throughout the state followed suit. It is a true testament to the strength of our community to see everyone come together to do the right thing,” Paulsen said.

The statewide Do Right, Right Now campaign is a collaboration with several partners, including the Douglas County Health Department and Omaha Community Foundation, as well as the Nebraska State Department of Education and Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
