We Are All In This Together

As we adjust to a “new normal” in these unprecedented times, our chapter is making some temporary changes to keep our community safe, our volunteers well and our members engaged.

Most notably, we’re adjusting our chapter offerings through June 1. While we won’t be gathering in person, we’re currently exploring virtual options (or postponements) and will be providing more detailed updates as they become available. This plan extends to our May Board Meeting and any planned, in-person committee meetings.

We’re also pressing pause on many strategies we had planned to implement in the first six months of the year. Now more than ever, we recognize the need to be respectful of your time and resources, as well as the time of our volunteers. That said, we’re already brainstorming how best to provide networking and development opportunities to communications professionals in Nebraska as the crisis subsides.

What isn’t changing is the support you’ve come to expect. Three timely resources:

    • Check out last week’s popular “Communicating in a Time of COVID-19” webinar replay, now available on-demand. Click here to access.
    • Collaborate with PRSA members around the world via MyPRSA Communities. Recent threads include pitching media during the crisis, engaging associates and clients remotely, resources and best practices to employ, etc.
    • Use this time to pursue a new goal, like obtaining an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), or to enhance your skillset by taking advantage of PRSA’s extensive professional development library

We’re monitoring the weekly, daily and, at times, hourly developments from local, state and national experts, and will stay in touch with further updates.

Finally, join me in giving a virtual round-of-applause to our board members and committee members who have gone above and beyond to make necessary adjustments in a very timely manner.

As always, I welcome your ideas, suggestions and questions. Please drop me a line at: [email protected].

We’re all in this together and we look forward to brighter days ahead.
