Interactive Campaigns Receive Top Honors at Paper Anvil Awards

Excitement is building for the 2020 PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards! The ceremony will be held virtually in 2021. We can’t wait to celebrate the great communicators of our state!

Each year, the top-scoring campaigns submitted by students and professionals are recognized as “Best of Show.” In 2019, this top honor went to the University of Nebraska – Omaha (UNO) PRSSA and Nebraska Tourism Commission.

UNO PRSSA’s Best of Show campaign was entitled “Talk, Not Talking Points.” The goal of the campaign was to increase discussion about the most pressing issues in diversity and inclusion (D&I). To reach their target audiences, the students created a card game with each card designed to spark a meaningful D&I discussion.

The objective was to use gamification to ease participants into the conversation of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and classroom.

They sent card decks as “dares” to public relations and advertising agencies, corporate communications departments, nonprofits and educational institutions in Omaha. Overall, the campaign achieved its objectives and helped to educate communications professionals and students on how to make a more honest today, and a more diverse tomorrow.

On the heels of the viral 2018 campaign, “Nebraska, It’s Not for Everyone,” the communication team at the Nebraska Tourism Commission won Best of Show for the 2019 Nebraska Passport Program.

The Nebraska Passport is a highly effective, interactive program that increases awareness of, and traffic to, Nebraska’s lesser-known tourism destinations. The Passport involves 70 businesses spread throughout the state that offer unique travel adventures. Participants visit the businesses, collect stamps, and earn prizes.

This campaign created a fun way for both Nebraskans and visitors from outside the state to find unique destinations and make unique memories.

The program is ongoing. You can learn more at nebraskapassport.com.

The regular deadline to submit for the 2020 PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards is October 30, with a late, extended deadline of November 6. See you at the awards!
