Making NOISE: How Content Creation and Storytelling Can Connect Us to a More Just Future

Making NOISE: How Content Creation and Storytelling Can Connect Us to a More Just Future

Recognizing a significant information gap in North Omaha, Dawaune Lamont Hayes founded NOISE (North Omaha Information Support Everyone) in April of 2018. Since that time, he and his team have engaged with thousands of people across the Omaha metro area through information gathering and sharing. By focusing on three areas (civics, community and culture), they have broken the traditional mold of news distribution and have inspired a new generation of empowered community members. Learn how they've used their multi-media platform to activate and galvanize the community, and how local communicators can use their tactics to amplify unheard voices in their communities.

    About Dawaune:

Dawaune Lamont Hayes is an artist, journalist, engaged citizen and social entrepreneur with a passion for connecting people to ideas and resources necessary to inspire positive social change.

A 2016 journalism graduate of Creighton, Hayes worked in arts advocacy and communications before joining forces with local media, creatives, and community advocates to from NOISE (North Omaha Information Support Everyone).

NOISE is a community-led news organization committed to strengthening information creation and distribution in North Omaha. Hayes is the director of effort, working to encourage community members to recapture their narrative and inform their neighbors.
