Leuschen Fellowship Award
Supporting Excellence in Public Relations
The Leuschen Fellowship Award was established in 2001 by the PRSA Nebraska Foundation to support the professional development of individuals advancing their education in the field of public relations. The first award was granted in January 2002.
The Fellowship is named in memory of James W. Leuschen, APR, a long-time PRSA Nebraska member and past president, to recognize his career of excellence in the practice of public relations and for his exemplary service to his profession and to the community.
About the Award
Each year, the Leuschen Fellowship provides a $500 award to a public relations practitioner pursuing their Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). This award reflects a commitment to lifelong learning, ethical practice, and the elevation of public relations standards.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to professionals currently working in public relations or those planning to re-enter the profession.
- Candidates must be members of PRSA, with preference given to PRSA Nebraska members who intend to remain in the area.
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to earning their APR credential.
Application Process
Anyone interested in applying should submit a letter of application explaining why they believe they are a strong candidate for the award. Letters should be sent directly to PRSA Nebraska’s Ethics/APR Chair at [email protected].
Selection Process
The award is managed by PRSA Nebraska’s APR/Ethics Chair and overseen by the Fellowship Committee, which includes:
- The President of the PRSA Nebraska Foundation
- The APR/Ethics Chair
- A PRSA Nebraska Trustee
The committee reviews application letters and recommends recipients for approval by the PRSA Nebraska Foundation Board of Trustees.
In years when funding allows, multiple awards may be granted.
Recipients of the Leuschen Fellowship Award will be announced during PRSA Nebraska’s annual awards gala, held each winter.
